Representation Summary:

The field is often used by the comunity. People walj there dogs,Children play in the field in the summer and even winter when there is snow. This has been going on for generations. It would be a devastating loss if ut was to be used to build more houses that people from the area will not be able to afford.

We live in Heol Cwmbach close to the this possible development. I am not totally opposed to the proposal but I have concerns about its impact on Heol Cwmbach. Close to the field Heol Cwmbach becomes a narrow one way street up a short steep hill, It would struggle to cope with an increase in traffic levels. Additionally we already see several infringements of the No=Entry signs at the top of the hill daily. Cars rounding the corner at the bottom of the hill would be increasingly likely to face on-coming traffic. Lastly the village facilities are quite limited.

Representation Summary:

The amount of houses that could be built on this land would increase the number of people living in Drefach significantly. Drefach would not be a village anymore.

Bringing more people to the area would stretch services even further, for example, doctors, dentists and schools.

Representation Summary:

Drefach village development sites would be unsuitable and put extra burden on utilities and amenities. Including:
1. Water supply.
2. Sewerage.
3. Facilities at surgery - access to doctors, nurses etc. already limited.
4. Dental care availability.
5. School capacity for primary and secondary school pupils.
6. Traffic problems due to increase in volume.
7. Parking facilities outside houses causing use of nearby streets.
8. Lack of local employment.
9. Change ethos and character of the village into non-Welsh speaking losing present Welsh language and community spirit.
10. Change landscape, sites are locate on green fields rather than brown sites.

Representation Summary:

Too big a site compared to size of village. Development in this site would change character of village. Access from Heol Cwmbach would be problematic as road is narrow. A tunnel is believed to be under site.

Representation Summary:

My understanding is that this land was donated to provide educational facilities by a member of the community. I do not think that allowing developers and the local council to profit from this act of altruism is in the spirit of this and any future donations made by the public. There has already been two housing developments in the village with another in the pipeline. A very large percentage of these houses already built were unaffordable to young local people and the new developments proposed do little to address this issue.

Representation Summary:

I object to the loss of a large area of school playing field for housing development. This field has historical value in connection with the Gwendraeth School.
This development is out of character for the village of Drefach , it will increase traffic congestion substantially and is not needed in Drefach. It will have a serious impact on the village character and Welsh Language.
A smaller area of the current playing field should be considered bourdeing the main Drefach Cwmmawr road.

Rhagwelir y byddai tua 50 i 60 o dai ar y safle hwn. Mae'r heolydd yn y pentref yn orlawn ar hyn o bryd. Sut fydd hi pan fydd yna gynnydd sylweddol o ran trafnidiaeth? Beth os fydd yna Ysgol ardal ar safle'r Gwendraeth yn y dyfodol- Ble bydd ei cae chwarae?
A oes yna isadeiledd addas i gwrdd a gofynion y datblygiad hwn?
Byddai'r datblygiad ar gaeau'r Gwendraeth yn hoelen farwol i'r Gymraeg yn y pentref. Ar hyn o bryd mae canran o tua 64% o bobl Drefach yn medru ac yn defnyddio'r Gymraeg. Rhaid gwarchod hynny.

Representation Summary:

Whilst it is generally accepted that part of the former Gwendraeth school may need to be developed for housing, concerns have been expressed that the scale of the land being put forward by the local authority in SR/ 049/ 005 would result in over-intensification of development. Concerns have been expressed that any access from Heol Cwmbach, a one way-system in part, would be problematic, and that the scale of the development needs to be reduced, with any access joining Heol Cwmmawr.

Currently school playing fields - would result in loss of green space again & impact traffic on busy road.

There is another proposed site (unnumbered) on Mary Street, Drefach where entrance to site would be a very narrow piece of road - not wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass easily.
