As a resident, Llangunnor is a village on the outskirts of Carmarthen, in open countryside and separated from the village of Cwmffrwd. That distinct separation gives Llangunnor its individual identity for the residents to enjoy. This proposal will challenge that identity expanding towards Cwmffrwd.
This site is a large site and could see in excess of 500 homes, significantly impacting our village and the surrounding area. For example:
* The historic Roman Road: currently enjoyed by many of our villagers as a peaceful countryside walk, it would become engulfed by houses and its character lost.
* Encroachment towards Cwmffrwd: there is clearly an established development boundaries.
Concerns are also raised about access and traffic: particularly if access was off Roman Road; increase in congestion on the existing roads; Llangunnor Park - potentially increasing the amount of traffic would make the surrounding area a much more dangerous place for children; the road infrastructure in Pensarn often struggles with the current volume of traffic at peak times;
flooding - building on an area this size would only add to this issue; Traffic and parking surrounding Llangunnor school is a major issue.

I ask you as County Council to support us in protecting our village from a potential development on this scale and in conclusion it is emphasised that the scale of this site would change the character of our village and challenge our infrastructure so much so that it would not be able to cope with such a development without causing major upheaval within the community.

Please find below my observations in relation to the proposed developments for the community of Llangynnwr as outlined in the draft Local Plan.
Roman Road sites SR/021/05 -SR/021/38 - SR/021/34
All planning should take into concern the Future Generation Act and I'm concerned about the extra storm water the site will generate. The flooding in December shows the potential hazards this area faces. I'm also concerned about the extra traffic and pollution the developments will create. The shape of the site will in my opinion put pressure on the nature of Roman Road.
Brynglas /Capel Dewi Road SR/021/005 - SR/021/12
This looks like ribbon development that will blur the urban/ rural boundary and invite further urban sprawl in the future.

Site Location:
Land at Mounthill Farm, rear of Brynhyfryd and off Roman Road.
Objections relating to residential development sites identified in the Llangunnor area:
Housing demand: question need for such large amount of additional dwellings in the proposed sites.
Transport/Traffic: Llangunnor not a sustainable area due to limited facilities and relies on accessing support, health needs and recreational facilities via personal transport. Severe road congestion around Ysgol Llangynnwr and Pensarn - additional traffic will add to current chaotic situation.
Environment: Loss of valuable and productive agricultural land. Significant detrimental impact on the Pibwr valley landscape and its biodiversity and the historical Roman Road area.
Infrastructure: serious concerns regarding: sewerage operations, surface water drainage contributing to flooding, inadequate road network.
