Respondent: Mr Gwyn Lewis

Representation Summary:

Formally oppose the application for reasons itemised below.

1. Impacting on uninterrupted views.
2. Nothing should be done by the Council that would discourage housing development on that part of the Brown Field Site at Whitland Creamery. Making a further significant Green Field Development site available as an alternative to the Brown Field Site would do precisely that. There are already a number of undeveloped Consented sites already available in the town.
3. There can be little doubt these Consented Green Field Sites closer to the town centre and its amenities would also be adversely affected by the Council seeking Consent on its own Green Field land on the outskirts of the town.
4. The Council own this field so that they would rent to young aspiring farmers in order to encourage and enable them to make a start in agriculture before moving on to buy their own farms. This far sighted policy was conspicuously successful and the very same principles apply today. This is not the case here as two farms have been amalgamated and an excellent range of buildings already exists to make the farm viable. What would harm that viability would be taking Prime Green land from it and making it Brown. Young Farmers are the lifeblood of the community and the Council should at all costs avoid any action.
