Respondent: Tobi Davies

Representation Summary:

The respondent objects to the inclusion of the site, claiming that since the opening of the Cross Hands Business Park link road, Black Lion Road and surrounding roads have become dangerous rat runs where traffic exceeds speed limits.

It claimed that the entrance of the estate onto Black Lion Road is poor due to the brow of the hill to the right and the dip in the road to the left. The respondent cites several serious accidents on this stretch in recent years and is also concerned with pedestrian safety - citing a lack of any safe places to cross the busy road.

It is stated that allowing access through Heol Derwen would lead to an intolerable and dangerous increase for residents. It is stated Heol Derwen is currently unadopted as the roads do not meet Council standards.

Concerns are also expressed on proximity to industries. It is claimed that complaints from residents on such issues as noise pollution and bad odours would only increase with the building of houses even closer to the abattoir and surrounding industries.

The respondent also cites habitat interest on site and stresses that the loss of even more species rich habitats should be seriously considered. The respondent concludes by stating that a site visit should be considered essential.
