Safleoedd Ymgeisio a Gyflwynwyd / Candidate Site Submissions

Representation ID: 1841

Received: 14/02/2019

Respondent: Ms Pauline John

Representation Summary:

The respondent strongly objects to the site being included on the next LDP. The respondent notes that the site is located alongside proposed affordable housing and states that this would also cause problems with exit road onto Garreglwyd. Reference is made to the traffic situation within the area which is congested and unsafe - particularly as the population of the houses (assuming the respondent is talking about the affordable housing scheme adjacent) is likely to be young children, disabled and less bodied (and even the elderly).

It is claimed that an increase in population, would have a detrimental impact on the hard and soft infrastructure of the area. It is envisaged that disruption will be caused by building work. It is claimed that there are a lack of services in Pembrey (eg shops and post office), and there is concern that the area is becoming a "ghost town" between 9-5 due to limited employment opportunities.

Reference is made to the capacity of the A484, with specific reference to Sandy Road and there is concern at the impact on the area's tourism offer and environment. It is claimed that the Kidwelly and Burry Port area should be curtailed as south west wales as oppose to becoming a commuter belt for south east Wales.
