As a resident, Llangunnor is a village on the outskirts of Carmarthen, in open countryside and separated from the village of Cwmffrwd. That distinct separation gives Llangunnor its individual identity for the residents to enjoy. This proposal will challenge that identity expanding towards Cwmffrwd.
This site is a large site and could see in excess of 500 homes, significantly impacting our village and the surrounding area. For example:
* The historic Roman Road: currently enjoyed by many of our villagers as a peaceful countryside walk, it would become engulfed by houses and its character lost.
* Encroachment towards Cwmffrwd: there is clearly an established development boundaries.
Concerns are also raised about access and traffic: particularly if access was off Roman Road; increase in congestion on the existing roads; Llangunnor Park - potentially increasing the amount of traffic would make the surrounding area a much more dangerous place for children; the road infrastructure in Pensarn often struggles with the current volume of traffic at peak times;
flooding - building on an area this size would only add to this issue; Traffic and parking surrounding Llangunnor school is a major issue.
