Representation Summary:

Concerns relate to two Candidate Sites SR/098/001 and SR/098/002 the issues in the main are the same for both sites.
Access to both sites SR/098/001 and SR/098/002 is restricted by the narrowness of the access road, both through the village of Llanllwch and down the hill from AlltyCnap Road.
Proposed developments would cause an increase in traffic in an already well documented problematic area.
Lack of mains gas to the proposed sites.
Increased potential of flooding due to increased run off to storm drains and the stream
Far more suitable sites have been proposed within close proximity to Llanllwch.

Representation Summary:

Sites SR/098/001 and SR/098/002 are not suitable for development because they are not easily accessed, they do not have appropriate service infrastructure and any development would lead to an increase in the volume of traffic through the village. Issues with traffic in Llanllwch have been raised many times, the number and size of vehicles and the speed that they come through the village makes it very dangerous for pedestrians and there has been a number of instances of damage to property.
We are also concerned about flooding and whether the sewer system could handle this many new houses.

Respondent: Carmarthen Town South Ward

Representation Summary:

Present infrastructure is totally inadequate to serve further development. The road bisecting the candidate site is very steep and narrow. The junction at the top of Alltycnap Hill is difficult to negotiate. The road through Llanllwch has a very narrow bridge and sporadic pavements. Improving the road (even if possible due to the challenging nature of the terrain) would make
the present 'rat run' through Llanllwch more attractive for motorists desperate to avoid traffic build up in Johnstown at peak times. Development on the slopes above the village would overlook the rear of present properties- a material planning issue.

Respondent: Mr Michael Gardiner

Representation Summary:

The road serving both these parcels of land is a narrow single track carriageway, approaching from Alltycnap road it is a steep descent down hill with high hedge banks and no passing places.

Approaching from Llanllwch village from the bridge it is again single track with hedge banks. This road is very busy during working day morning with frequent congestion caused by vehicles travelling to and from the Industrial estate. the road is totally inadequate to service any further housing development in the area.

We write in connection to LDP application: Ref SR/098/001 also SR/098/002 in the village of Llanllwch.

We live next to both sites and wish to strongly OBJECT to any development on either site.

Because of the existing on-going problem with the volume of traffic already using this village as a short cut causing concern for highway safety! There are twelve hundred houses / homes already being built at Travellers Rest which is a huge concern in the village as it already suffers from severe traffic congestion, the infrastructure cannot take any more traffic along the narrow roads its becoming dangerous! We live adjacent to both proposed sites, and are asking that you refuse these applications. SR/098/002 has already been refused on previous occasions.

We believe that infrastructure through the village is inadequate, mainly roads too narrow and lack of public foot paths also two bridges which are very narrow as well as the existing problem of the volume of traffic.
