Safleoedd Ymgeisio a Gyflwynwyd / Candidate Site Submissions

Representation ID: 2080

Received: 08/02/2019

Respondent: Mrs Gillian Tyler

Representation Summary:

The respondent wishes to submit objections to the proposal on the grounds of safety. The respondent is very familiar with the area and outlines that the lane to the site is very narrow and is accessed off the B4317, Heol Capel Ifan. This road is a major road through the Gwendraeth Valley and is very busy. The respondent has experienced near misses with vehicles entering and leaving the lane. It is stated that it is situated near a bend and although there is a 30mph speed limit just before the junction, this is not always observed. It is stated that the lane could not be widened due to the properties either side.

Respondent: Angela Brown

Representation Summary:

The respondent states that the proposed site's delineation does not reflect a range of concerns in relation to land ownership / rights/ interest - notably in terms of the lane.

It is submitted that access in and out of the small lane which leads to the old Capel Ifan Church is dangerous at the best of times and more traffic travelling in and out would cause more health and safety issues. It is stated that the visibility and speed of the traffic both going up and down the main road (even though it is a 30mph zone) is well over the limit frequently. It is stated that exiting this lane is becoming more hazardous due to the volume of traffic that uses Heol Capel Ifan which is a main route through the Gwendraeth Valley. It is claimed that this would also cause issue with the proposed site at SR/138/016 which is sited further up the road and near a bend in the road!
