Respondent: Mrs Susan Jones

Representation Summary:

I am very concerned about the proposed number of changes to agricultural/ greenfield sites in the Forest/Hendy area of Carmarthen. My concern is that the infrastructure is not in place to support such large amounts of additional housing. It is already difficult to get appointments at the surgery in Pontardulais & this LDP doesn't take into account any additional housing being planned in that area. It is not just houses that are needed it is surgeries, schools, better roads etc to support all of this. The council does not ensure any of this is done.

Respondent: Phillip Davies

Representation Summary:

The respondent become aware of the Plan thanks to Llanedi Community Council and is disappointed that CCC did not publicise it more widely. The respondent emphasises the environmental qualities of Fforest and states it has a clearly delineated identity in a geographical sense. There is a need to avoid serious detriment to the character and environment of Fforest and avoid its over-development. Reference is made to the Spatial Options Topic Paper.

The respondent states that a key issue is obstruction to traffic along the main roads, namely in Carmarthen Road and Forest Road (A48) and in Llanedi Road (B4297), caused by the parking of residents' vehicles. It is claimed that further residential expansion and increased traffic would clearly aggravate the problem and it is stated that parking restrictions and yellow lines would not solve this.

The respondent states that the notion that Fforest should serve as an expanded dormitory settlement for Llanelli, the Swansea Bay City Region or even Carmarthen will lead to the Plan being unsuccessful in reducing the undesirable impacts of avoidable daily travel and commuting. Reference is made to the Spatial Options Topic Paper.
