Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The disruption of development of this land would cause havoc. It is a natural habitat for varied wildlife. The vista is one of the most valued views in the county and for the thousands of cars passing by daily, any development would ruin this. Any residential plan would increase traffic to an already overused highway. The village of Llangennech does not have the infrastructure to sustain a such developments.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

I object to any significant addition of housing to the area around Junction 48 of the M4.
The infrastructure in the area is not able to cope with this, including a shortage of school places, doctors, over-subscribed roads, and the the motorway junction is already dangerously overcapacity, leading to long queues on the motorway, and potentially endangering lives.
As a semi-rural area with strong Welsh language, both of these are at risk with overbuilding in these areas.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This is an industrial area, proving much needed jobs for the local community. If the area is redeveloped the jobs will be lost.
Its adjacent to a river which is designated as a flood risk by the NRW.
In the local area the roads are already congested, with the development of more housing road congestion will increase, leading to health issues and possible accidents.
There are no more available school places
Demand for medical services, including a doctor is high now and with additional homes being developed demand will increase.
More housing will place even more pressure on local services.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Astounded that the county are planning more houses in this area when infrastructure such as road networks (Such as traffic through to/from link to M4 at J48) already at over full capacity, Doctors surgery full. Llangennech surgery reducing in size. What about Schools, playing fields etc? Totally opposed and shocked that the infrastructure doesn't get built first. Proposals will reduce quality of life for all current residents in this area. People live in West Wales for quality of life. This is going to Suburbanise the area as part of Swansea.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This again is a very large area 29.55 Ha with a 'mixed use' proposal. There is already a recycling depot on this site with large vehicles accessing and egressing on an already potholed Pontardulais road without having to deal with the traffic lights on the A4138. When this company applied for planning, they envisaged a lorry entering and leaving this site every 5 mins during an 8 hour shift. There are also 4 large settling ponds treating contaminated water from the old Morlais colliery on this site. Building on such a large scale as this would impact on this area.

Erosion of boundaries between Hendy and Llangenneth.
Land slopes towards the Carmarthen bay special area
Road network both A road and motorway, extremely busy
Welsh water works set to valley bottom

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

It is evident that the capacity of M4 Junction 48 at Hendy is under pressure at certain times of the day, notably the morning and evening commuter periods. Long queues in the morning on the A4138 road from Llanelli to the M4 are a daily occurrence whilst dangerous tail-backs of standing traffic waiting to exit the M4 Westbound at Hendy are commonplace.

Figures published by the County Council itself demonstrate there is no capacity in the local primary school sector to accommodate any further numbers of children emanating from any future housing development of significant scale in the local community.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Whilst this site is being promoted on the basis of mixed use (I am assuming commercial/residential), unless there is some substantial improvements to the infrastructure in this area, then it is considered unacceptable in planning terms. The local road network and the A4138 where this adjoins Junction 48 of the M4 is already severely congested and therefore currently unsuitable for further development.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Having lived in Llanelli for 60 years and been a resident of Llangennech for the last 13 years the increased housing developments have put increasing loads on the local infrastructure. Our schools are at capacity, our road links are inadequate. The area is becoming a commuter satellite of Swansea/Cardiff which we cannot cope with. Future developments will only add to the problems. This is not only a problem with this proposed site but many in the Bryn/Bynea/Llangennech and Hendy areas. There is strong local objection to these proposals; you would have more objections if this procedure was more user friendly

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The roads in the area are not able to support an increase in traffic, the same applies to our schools, Doctor's surgeries and drainage systems.
Also the environmental consequences; the destruction of beautiful green space and damage to wildlife. There are brown/derelict sites in the County which need improving and could be used. The health implications on residents of increased traffic through our villages. I feel the need for extra housing is not in our area but in other parts of the Country, many houses are taking so long to be sold, this does not reflect a housing shortage here.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

My mother lives at Talyclun and this large development adjacent to the current estate would have a detrimental affect on an already very busy area with extremely busy traffic congestion at peak times which this development would add to and worsen considerably.
Additionally with the current traffic levels, it is extremely difficult to exit the estate due to the volume and speed of traffic.
The area is also very beautiful with views of the estuary which would be spoilt by any large development.
Therefore we would like to oppose this development proposal.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Following public consultation , a meeting of Llanedi Community Council on the 6th February 2018 agreed that we wish to object to all future large scale (5 plus houses) proposals for residential development in Hendy and Forest. Significant development has already taken place in recent years in the area.
Our specific objection to this candidate site is due to concerns over:
* increased volume of traffic
* access on to busy road.
* increased difficulty for pedestrians crossing to the bus stop etc.
* lack of infrastructure (doctors/schools etc.)
* environment/edge of the estuary

The respondent sets out a range of concerns in relation to the proposed candidate site(s). The concerns listed include transport / traffic - including capacity concerns towards the M4 junction, along with concerns at capacity of local education and health provision. There is also reference to concerns with regards to problems with water drainage.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

I am writing in relation to candidate site numbers CA0773, CA0881 and CA0907.

These site should not be considered as candidate sites for the following reasons.

The development of these sites will irreversably change the character of Llangennech, and in so doing reduce the social, economic, environmental and cultural well being of the citizens of Llangennech.

Part of site 0773 is within a flood zone.

I am concerned that site 0907 would overwhelm the sewage treatment works resulting in an adverse impact on the Carmarthen Bay and estuaries SAC.

It will further reduce the local stronghold of the Welsh language, increase pollution from vehicles and fragment habitat. These points are contrary to achieving the goals of the Well being of future generations act.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Fel y Cynghorydd Sir ar ran Ward Llangennech rwy'n credu'n gryf bod pentref Llangennech, gan ei fod yn agos at Gyffordd 48 o draffordd yr M4, wedi cael ei or - ddatblygu dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf. Mae yr holl dai sydd wedi cael eu hadeiladu wedi achosi problemau traffig mawr ar hyd y B4297 trwy'r pentref ac yn enwedig ar hyd yr A4138 wrth i 'r holl gerbydau geisio cyrraedd yr M4.
Ni ddylid ganiatau rhagor o dai heb gymryd ystyriaeth llawn o sut mae hyn yn mynd i effeithio'r traffig ar hyd yr heolydd yma.

As the County Councillor on behalf of Llangennech Ward, I strongly believe that the village of Llangennech, as it is near to Junction 48 from the M4 motorway, has been over developed over the last few years. All of the houses that have been built have caused significant traffic problems along the B4297 through the village and especially along the A4138 as all of the vehicles attempt to reach the M4.
No more houses should be permitted without giving full consideration to how this will affect the traffic along these roads.
